Psychodynamic therapy is a form of talking therapy that focuses on understanding how past experiences, unconscious patterns, and relationships may influence your thoughts, emotions, and behaviours in the present. It helps develop greater self-awareness, emotional understanding, and long-term emotional growth.
You do not need to be in crisis to seek therapy. Therapy can be helpful if you are feeling anxious, overwhelmed, emotionally stuck, struggling in relationships, dealing with trauma, or simply wanting to understand yourself more deeply and improve your emotional wellbeing.
The first session will be an assessment session an opportunity for us to explore what has brought you to therapy, discuss concerns and family background.
Yes. Therapy sessions are confidential, and your privacy is respected at all times. There are only rare exceptions where confidentiality may need to be broken, such as concerns around serious harm or safeguarding, which would always be discussed openly wherever possible.
Therapy can be short-term or longer-term depending on your individual needs and what you would like support with. Some people attend therapy for a few months, while others benefit from longer-term reflective work and ongoing emotional support.
Yes. Therapy is available for children, young people, and adults. Sessions with children are adapted developmentally and may include play, creative activities, and gentle therapeutic interaction to help children express emotions safely.
Yes. Psychodynamic therapy can help individuals explore and better understand the underlying emotional causes of anxiety, overwhelm, panic, and traumatic experiences. Therapy supports emotional processing, self-awareness, and healthier coping patterns over time.
That is completely okay. Therapy is not about pressure or having the “right” words. Sessions move at your pace, and part of the therapeutic process involves creating a safe environment where difficult emotions can gradually feel easier to explore.
Yes. Concessions may be available for students, trainee counsellors, low-income individuals, OAPs, and refugees. Availability may vary depending on current spaces.
